Community Agreements
Welcome!
Our mission is to make frequent and effective acupuncture widely accessible. We achieve this by treating multiple people at the same time, in community. This enables us to lower the cost of treatment for you, it allows family members and friends to come for treatment together, and for everyone who comes into our space to feel welcomed.
We need a few things from you for this arrangement to work. Your adherence to these community agreements makes what we do possible – for patients and practitioners alike.
By consenting to treatment at Kindred Community Acupuncture, I agree to the following:
THE BASICS
You enter our premises with a spirit of friendliness, solidarity, and respect. We tolerate absolutely no hate speech or any form of intimidation.
FIRST APPOINTMENT
Before your first appointment, fill out the intake form online. Wear loose-fitting clothing. Avoid getting treatment if you are fasting or have otherwise not eaten on the day.
CANCELING OR RESCHEDULING
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you give at least 12 hours notice. That way, we can open your appointment time to someone else. If you do have to cancel with fewer than 12 hours notice or if you don’t show up for your appointment we will charge a $25 missed appointment fee.
PAYMENT
Please pay before your treatment. We have a sliding scale of $25 - $50 per treatment. That means you choose the payment that you can afford. There is no income verification. We do not bill insurance, but we are happy to give you a receipt. KCA does not receive grants. We exist because patients pay for their treatments, and then tell other people about their experience.
PROMPTNESS, ARRIVAL, AND SCHEDULING
Arrive with enough time to make your payment and schedule your next appointment(s) before being in your chair and ready for treatment at your scheduled time. Please respect the time of the practitioner and other patients.
COMMUNITY-MINDEDNESS IN TREATMENT ROOM
Turn off your cell phone!
Refrain from using strong perfumes or colognes before getting treated.
Always keep your shoes on except when at your chair.
Speak softly enough to not disturb other patients who may be sleeping or feeling undisturbed for the first time in days.
Your practitioner is sometimes treating a patient every ten or fifteen minutes. This means conversation needs to stick to the essence of your needs for treatment.
We do not give lifestyle advice or referrals. We focus on providing acupuncture.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
Acupuncture helps your body heal itself. How it does this is something of a mystery, but one thing we do know is that it is a process. Your acupuncturist will recommend a course of treatment, but it is up to you to follow through with that, and to check in about how things are going. If you have questions about how long it will take to see results, please ask us. If you need to adjust your treatment plan, please let us know. We need you to commit to the ongoing process of treatment in order to get good results.
PRACTITIONER’S COMMITMENTS
